The International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) and the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE) will jointly organize the Third IUFRO Latin American Congress, to be held in San Jose, Costa Rica from 12 to 15 June, 2013. Partners in this event are the Ibero American Model Forest Network (RIABM), FAO and several IUFRO member organizations in the region.

  • A broad scientific program: the conference provides opportunities for networking and discussions on research cooperation.

  • Local and regional research partners are invited to organize side events to initiate or expand cooperation efforts.

  • A one-day field trip with several options, including visits to a Model Forest, long-term research site on forest management or roundtable discussions with national decision makers on the science- policy interface.

  • Pre-congress events include a IUFRO-SPDC workshop and several meetings of the various committees of IUFRO, including the IUFRO Board meeting and the Executive Committee of the IUFRO-WFSE initiative meeting, and the RIABM Board of Directors meeting.
