RESUMEN

El picudo Dynamis nitidulus, causa daños similares a los ocasionados por Rhynchophorus palmarum (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Rhynchophorinae) en las plantaciones de pejibaye (Bactris gasipaes H.B.K.: Palmae) para producción de palmito en la región de Iquitos, Amazonía Peruana. Se presentan las características morfológicas que permiten identificar a los adultos de ambas especies, lo cual puede ser importante desde el punto de vista práctico.

ABSTRACT

Dynamis nitidulus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), new pest of the peachpalm. The weevil D. nitidulus, causes similar damage to that caused by Rhynchophorus palmarum (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Rhynchophorinae) in plantations of peachpalm (Bactris gasipaes H.B.K.: Palmae) which produce heart of palm in the region of Iquitos, Peruvian Amazon. The morphological characteristics that allow identification of the adults of both species are presented. This may be important from a practical viewpoint.
